SMILE STATEMENT AS NATIONAL LOCKDOWN IS ANNOUNCED
The news on Saturday evening, 31st October of a further lockdown, although expected, will come with huge concern for many.
In the first wave Smile were proud to initiate decisive support for communities across the region including the establishment of community hubs support to our NHS teams across hospitals and community mental health care.
This was delivered in partnership with the public, private and voluntary sectors in our region, and the collective response was outstanding. At the forefront of this was the thousands of volunteers, and the charities they connected into. They provided confidence and more importantly compassion for those shielding and most vulnerable to this awful pandemic.
Rest assured our team and those teams in which we connect are prepared and ready to continue providing support that evolves with the challenges our communities face.
Anyone wanting to volunteer to help or connect your resources to support our communities please don’t hesitate to contact the Smile team on hello@heysmilefoundation.org or 01482 590270.
Specifically we require more volunteers who can connect with those limiting social contact, living on their own and struggling with loneliness and isolation.
You can volunteer from your own home on our CallER Collective Befriending line.
We are strongest when communities come together, we did this exceptionally well in the first wave and we go again!
