KCOM’s Employee Volunteering Day at Lockington School
KCOM colleagues recently spent the day volunteering at Lockington CE VC Primary School in East Yorkshire, through their Smile365 membership with HEY Smile Foundation.
The Opportunity
The HEY Smile Foundation connects Smile365 member businesses with local charities, schools and community groups looking for support.
For Lockington School, this meant welcoming a team of KCOM volunteers to help refresh the school fence.
The Volunteering Day
The KCOM team rolled up their sleeves to paint the 6ft fence, giving it a much-needed new lease of life and helping to make the school grounds feel brighter and more welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.
Their time and effort also saved the school money, allowing more funds to be directed towards supporting the children.
Making a Difference
Julie Cattle, Headteacher at Lockington CE VC Primary School, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to the KCOM volunteers who gave up their time to come and paint our school fence. They have done a fantastic job, and the fence looks so much better.
“Their generosity has also saved us a significant amount of money, which means we can put that directly back into the school and the children. We really do appreciate the time, hard work and care they have put into making our school look so lovely. Thank you to everyone involved.
“We are also incredibly grateful on behalf of the school for all the help HEY Smile Foundation has done in matching us up.”
Elizabeth Sloan van Wyk from KCOM added:
“We had a lovely time at the school and thoroughly enjoyed painting the fence. We tried our best to do a good job! We received a warm welcome and enjoyed our day in the sun helping one of our local communities.”
