H&H Volunteering Day at Ren’s Wildlife Hospital

As part of their Smile365 Plus membership, H&H participated in a fully brokered employee volunteering day at Ren’s Wildlife Hospital on Saturday, 5th April 2025. This event was facilitated by HEY Smile Foundation, highlighting the value of corporate social responsibility and community engagement.

HEY Smile Foundation offers its Smile365 Plus members a unique opportunity to engage in community activities through a fully brokered employee volunteering day. H&H, being a valued member, chose to utilise this benefit by volunteering at Ren’s Wildlife Hospital. This initiative not only supports local causes but also enhances team building and employee satisfaction.

Mucking In

On the day, H&H employees arrived at Ren’s Wildlife Hospital ready to contribute to various tasks. Their activities included feeding pigs, interacting with sheep, cleaning the volunteers’ caravan, repainting the pig paddock, clearing storm-damaged branches, and assisting with aviary maintenance. The team’s enthusiasm and willingness to help made a significant impact on the charity’s operations.

Impact on H&H

The volunteering experience had a profound effect on H&H employees. One participant noted, “The day made me realise just how much can be achieved in such a short time – all it takes is a little bit of effort and you can make someone’s day.” Another employee shared, “I had a wonderful time volunteering at Ren’s Wildlife Rescue! Feeding the pigs was such a fun and rewarding experience, and I really enjoyed meeting the sheep and helping with all the tasks that had to be completed. It felt great to give back and contribute to such a meaningful cause.”

Benefits to Ren’s Wildlife Hospital

Ren’s Wildlife Hospital said: “Having the team from H&H join us for a volunteering day made a real difference to our charity. Their energy and willingness to get stuck in meant we were able to tackle a wide range of essential but often time-consuming jobs – like cleaning the volunteers’ caravan, repainting the pig paddock, clearing storm-damaged branches, and helping with aviary maintenance. They even made time to share a few moments with our sheep, which they loved! It’s always a boost to have outside support, and it helps us keep our focus where it matters – on the animals.

“We’re really pleased that H&H are continuing to support us by helping to develop our website, and we’d absolutely encourage other businesses to consider corporate volunteering.”

We love to hear about the positive outcomes of corporate social responsibility initiatives facilitated by HEY Smile Foundation. By engaging in such activities, businesses like H&H not only contribute to local charities but also enhance employee morale and community engagement. We have a tried and tested model for other businesses to consider corporate volunteering as a valuable way to make a meaningful difference in their community.
