East Riding Young Farmers Club Saves Over £500 with Driffield Share Station
The Driffield Share Station has been a game-changer for East Riding Young Farmers Club (ERYFC), allowing them to borrow essential equipment for their many events and activities instead of purchasing or renting it. As a small rural youth charity, having access to this shared resource library has had a very positive impact on their ability to support their 450 members across East Yorkshire as well as the local community.
Key Equipment Borrowed
ERYFC has taken advantage of borrowing a wide range of items from the Share Station, including:
- PA systems and wireless microphones for events like charity tractor runs, public speaking days, sports days, pantomimes, and the county rally
- High-viz vests, tables, chairs, and tea urns for events
- Gazebos for outdoor events like the county ploughing match
- Projector and screen for club meetings, training sessions, and guest speakers
- Tug of war equipment to get the community involved at Driffield Show
- The recent addition of sports equipment
Massive Cost Savings
By utilising the Share Station, ERYFC estimates they have saved over £500 just for their County Rally event in May by borrowing chairs and tables. The cost of purchasing or renting all the various equipment for their full calendar of events would be massive. As
Ellie Jackson, ERYFC County Organiser says: “The cost of YFC having to purchase, or hire all this equipment for events would be massive, and as a small rural youth charity, would impact hugely on our ability to support both our 450 members across the East Riding, and also the local community.”
Behind the Scenes Impact
While much of the borrowed equipment is used behind the scenes, it is absolutely essential for allowing ERYFC’s events to happen. The Share Station provides vital resources that this youth organization would not have access to otherwise. It has been a total game-changer in supporting their mission of engaging young people across East Yorkshire.
Gareth Meyrick, Community Producer at HEY Smile Foundation says: “This is another great example of a community group making the most of our free vault of equipment. Having made a saving of £500, means that the Club can direct funds elsewhere. Driffield Young Farmers has saved money before they’ve had to raise money.”
