The Peel Project, a grassroots community and youth organisation, emerged amidst the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. Recognising the void in community and youth work in their area, they embarked on a mission to enhance community bonds and empower youth through year-round activities and events.

Challenge:

Limited resources and the absence of essential equipment posed significant challenges to The Peel Project’s ability to execute their vision effectively. Without access to necessary equipment such as tables, stages, chairs, and children’s games, their events would struggle to materialise, hindering their impact on the community.

Solution:

The Hull Vault, a local service specialising in free to hire equipment, offers a diverse range of items and provided the necessary resources to bring The Peel Project’s events to life.

Impact:

Events run by The Peel Project have catalysed positive change within the community. By providing essential equipment to grassroots and VCSE (Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise) organisations like The Peel Project, The Hull Vault has empowered these initiatives to thrive and fulfil their missions. The availability of equipment has enabled organisers to host successful events, which engage the community, and provide meaningful opportunities for youth development.

You can also see The Peel Project’s Health Fair which took place in August last year to help people access local health services. This Annual Community Health Fair works in partnership with Hull and East Yorkshire Mind and Hull City Council. On the day, over 900 people attended making the event a huge success – VIDEO2.

Testimonial:

“The Hull Vault has been instrumental in our journey at The Peel Project. Without their support, our events would not have been possible. The ease of access to essential equipment has streamlined our operations and allowed us to focus on what truly matters – building stronger communities and empowering our youth. We are immensely grateful to The Hull Vault for their invaluable service and dedication to our sector. They are truly making a difference in our city.” – The Peel Project Team

In this video you can see the stage was used for Eid in the Park. For the second year running Muslim’s came together from all across Hull to perform Eid Prayers in the Park with more than 1700 men, women and children – VIDEO1.

By bridging the gap between resource scarcity and organisational needs, The Hull Vault continues to play a pivotal role in shaping a more vibrant and connected community in Hull and East Yorkshire.
