We work as a team to reduce crime and the opportunities for crime, promote communication to external agencies such as Humberside Police and ERYC, we also create events and opportunities to promote community spirit.
During lockdown our focus had shifted slightly towards doing more hands on work to help our residents that are self isolating and to help combat loneliness and promote positive mental health. We’ve created a children’s Easter Colouring Competition, mini beasts trail and VE day house decorating competition to keep residents focused and still adhering to social distancing. We’ve collected medications, food shopping and helped residents suffering from anti social behaviour by neighbours.
Without the team of four other members, I would have given up, with the time and effort the community work needs. They keep me sane and keep me grounded. They all have a burning passion to help others. Even though their own lives are very busy, they still find time for others.
Our group covers 243 houses on our estate. The support and thanks we get from residents is overwhelming. Our last VE day event took us three hours to judge and give out prizes and nearly every home took part.
