The Smile Christmas Appeal helps Smile support a range of local charities and community groups to spread some Christmas cheer to their beneficiaries.

We collect everything from selection boxes to household items, toiletries and non-perishable food. Any donation is greatly appreciated and supports local charities across Hull and East Yorkshire.

Donnington Court in Hull is just one example of the charities we supported last year. Families referred to them are often in emergency situations. They’ve often have found themselves homeless very suddenly in the middle of the night, e.g. as a result of domestic violence and they can arrive with nothing but the clothes on their back. Over the Christmas period there are often no other services available to help them, but staff are able to put together small Christmas gifts and packs thanks to the Smile Christmas Appeal. 

There is always a huge request for selection boxes from the Smile Christmas Appeal. In 2017 we gave out over 600 selections boxes to local charities such as Downright Special, Endike Community Care and Case Training. So far this year we’ve had requests for over 800.

For some of the recipients the gifts received from the Smile Christmas Appeal were the only gifts they received last Christmas. Every single item donated is greatly appreciated and can help someone in their time of need.
