FREE CHARITY WORKSHOPS SUPPORT LOCAL GROUPS
Two free charity workshops facilitated by Smile and held at Gosschalks Solicitors have enhanced the skills of local charities.
The first event was a Digital Workshop delivered by Lloyds Bank; Google Digital Garage and Reason Digital. The sessions focused on improving the digital presence of charities: telling your story online; cyber security and social media with a question and answer section.
Over 60 charities attended the Digital Workshop and left fantastic feedback. Declan Nicol, from the Health Tree Foundation, said:
“Today was really informative – I particularly liked the social media section and I’ve got lots of new ideas to take back to the Health Tree Foundation to help our digital presence grow!”
Smile hopes to be able to repeat this free charity workshop at a later date.
‘Nobody Puts Data in the Corner’ General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) event was Smile’s second workshop aimed at charities. Nisa Retail and their MADL Charity kindly sponsored the guest speaker, Paul Barks, from the NCC Group Plc. Paul gave a one-hour overview of GDPR, including some relevant examples of charities that have recently been warned for breaches of data protection. Guests then took part in a Q&A session for 30 minutes, with plenty of questions raised.
Feedback was very positive, with one attendee saying:
“I feel more informed and now have a starting place to ensure GDPR is correctly implemented.”
Numerous local charities attended both the Digital and GDPR workshops, including:
Halliwick Association of Swimming Therapy
The Moorlands Charity
Hull Visual Choir
HEY Kids
