1884 DOCK STREET KITCHEN EVENT RAISES OVER £4,000 FOR SMILE
Bridge McFarland Solicitors and Informed Financial Planning (IFP) battled it out in Smile’s culinary competition, Devil’s Kitchen, at 1884 Dock Street Kitchen to raise over £4,000.
With incredible support from 1884 staff, the teams worked hard all day in the kitchen and front of house to create a fabulous atmosphere and prepare a delicious three-course meal for their guests.
Over 80 guests attended and enjoyed either a ‘Tartar of Yorkshire Venison’, or ‘North Sea Halibut’ for starters, followed by ‘North Sea Cod’, or ‘East Riding Pheasant Coq Au Vin’ for mains, finished off with ‘Sticky Toffee Pudding’, or ‘Orange Cheesecake’ for dessert.
All food and service was provided by staff members from Bridge McFarland and Informed Financial Planning, who had swapped their desks for aprons all in the name of charity.
IFP was victorious, winning by a small points margin, to take the Devil’s Kitchen crown. Kevin Ferriby, Managing Director at Informed Financial Planning said:
“IFP were delighted to take part in the charity event, Devil’s Kitchen. Supporting the local community is something IFP take pride in, and to do something which our staff and guests can also be a part of really is incredible.
“There is some fun competition between IFP and Bridge McFarland, but ultimately our top priority was to raise as much money as possible for the HEY Smile Foundation. 1884 Dock Street Kitchen is an amazing venue and we were delighted to be able to impress our guests.”
To date more than 3,500 people have dined at a Devil’s Kitchen event, which was created by Smile, and soon spread nationally, with cities including Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow, York and Sheffield taking part.
Rob Ripley, Partner, at Bridge McFarland was delighted with the funds raised on the evening:
“Devil’s Kitchen is a great way for the business community to get involved in raising money for local charities with the HEY Smile Foundation.
“1884 has high standards, so it was incredibly hard work but we were pleased to have a keen opponent in IFP, who after attending and supporting us at our first Devil’s Kitchen two years ago decided to challenge us to a battle as it was so much fun, for the staff and the guests.”
Helen Binnie-Wise, from Smile, was delighted with the result:
“Both teams worked tirelessly throughout the day to produce an outstanding three-course meal and wonderful atmosphere for their guests.
“We can’t thank 1884 enough for their support, for the first Devil’s Kitchen of 2017 we couldn’t have asked for anything better. The whole Smile team is looking forward to working with 1884 in the coming months.”
