Introducing Phoebe to the Team!

Hi! My name is Phoebe and I’ve recently started working at HEY Smile Foundation, initially to manage the CallER Collective befriending line, but now with a broader role of looking at Volunteering, Training and Enterprise across the charity. I’ve lived in Hull for 10 years, after moving here to study Music at Hull University and have been here ever since! I met my husband at University and we now live in South Cave with our 2 year old son, puppy, cat and guinea pig.

I’ve always been interested in charities and the third sector. I organised my first fundraising event when I was 9 (a bring and buy sale for a local swimming pool appeal) and have volunteered in many capacities for various organisations ever since, including local theatre groups, Teenage Cancer Trust, The Royal Voluntary Service and Born Free Foundation.

I realised that I could turn my interests into a career when I started volunteering for Macmillan Cancer Support whilst at University. I started working for Macmillan just after I left University and have continued to work in fundraising/volunteering ever since! I love being able to support people to make a difference to a cause that means something to them. Last year, I became a trustee of Fitmums and Friends and have found volunteering in this capacity to be fascinating and incredible rewarding.

In my spare time (!) I enjoy baking (even more so since lockdown!), running, listening to music (mostly showtunes), going to the theatre and watching true crime documentaries. I’m also a keen DIY-er!

I’m really excited about my new role at HEY Smile Foundation and helping local organisations to get the very best from their fundraising, volunteers and local community!
