SPECTACULAR HUMBER BRIDGE SOAPBOX DERBY

Spectators from around East Yorkshire flocked to watch last Saturday’s Humber Bridge Soapbox Derby, which raised over £9,000 for charity.

29 teams took part in this year’s event, battling it out in the sunshine to win a range of prizes. The teams were a mixture of corporate entries and individuals:

Local families enjoyed not only the thrills and spills of the racing, many enjoyed pop-up basketball and tennis provided by local charity Child Dynamix, a bite to eat from food vendors and even a wizz around the skateboard park.

The popular local Soapbox Derby is run by Smile and Hessle Town Council in association with the Humber Bridge Board. The event would not be possible without the support of sponsors Sargent Electrical, P&O Ferries, Specsavers Hessle and Tesco Extra Hull, who enable an event of this size to be staged in Hessle.
