M+W GROUP TEAM UP WITH SMILE TO BRING GOOD INTENTIONS TO LIFE

M+W Group is the main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the delivery of the new, advanced waste-to-energy facility (Energy Works) in Hull.

The facility is designed to reduce the need for local landfill, and, when completed, will be able to produce enough energy from treating waste to power over 40,000 homes in the local area each year.

M+W Group has partnered with Smile to reach as many members of the community in Hull and East Yorkshire as possible. With Smile’s support, M+W Group is aiming to raise over £20,000 in support of local causes over the next two years.

Roy Meakin, Project Director at M+W Group, is a keen advocate of the partnership, “We are committed to helping improve the areas where we work and with this in mind we have already started a number of fundraising initiatives on site. For example, we were recently able to renovate Stoneferry Primary School’s play area and it was tremendous to be able to apply our skills and time to make a difference in this way”.

One of the other initiatives already underway sees M+W Group running a monthly health and safety competition for staff and contractors. Workers are invited to submit a health and safety suggestion, with the winning entry each month triggering a £250 donation to Smile. The winner can then choose to keep the value of the vouchers, or donate another £250 to Smile.

Smile’s Innovator, Helen Binnie-Wise said: “We are excited about the next two years and the support M+W Group can contribute across Hull and East Yorkshire.

“We couldn’t continue to bring good intentions to life without the support of our business partners and we’re looking forward to M+W Group becoming an established part of Smile’s family”.
